The University of Alaska Southeast is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education (8060 165th Avenue NE, Suite 100, Redmond, Washington 98052; phone (425) 558-4224).

Specialized Accreditations

Teacher Education

The School of Education at the University of Alaska Southeast is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), a performance- based teacher accrediting body for schools, colleges, and the Federal Department of Education (2010 Massachusetts Ave., NW, suite 500, Washington, DC 20036; phone (202) 466-7496). This accreditation covers initial and advanced teacher preparation programs. NCATE is recognized by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel.

Health Information Management

The Health Information Management programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in collaboration with the American Medical Association and the American Health Information Management Association’s Council on Accreditation.
