Biography

Born in Mount Edgecumbe, AK, Joe was raised as a commercial fisherman in Yakutat. He is a member of the Teikweidí (Brown Bear) clan, eagle moiety of the Yakutat Tlingit tribe. After graduating Yakutat High School, Joe attended college in Southern California. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from UCLA in 1996 and earned his Master of Arts in American Indian Studies in 1998. In 2001, he received a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School.

Joe is a member of the Alaska Bar Association, the Sealaska Board of Directors, and the Juneau Lions Club.

Biography

Eric grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska. He attended the University of California Santa Cruz where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. Between 2007 and 2009, Eric served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in eastern Uganda where he worked on microfinance and community development projects. After returning to the United States, he undertook several studies with the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Bureau of Land Management before joining the University of Alaska Southeast. Eric also currently serves as the public member of the Alaska Board of Optometry.

In his free time, Eric greatly enjoys skiing, boating, diving, and coffee.

Biography

Allison is from Greendale, Wisconsin. She received a B.A. in Spanish and Intercultural Communications from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. During her time there, she worked in Housing and Residence Life, New Student Orientation, and Admissions. Allison loves to travel - she first came to Juneau as an exchange student to UAS and she has spent time in Bolivia, Chile, and Nicaragua. Her favorite Harry Potter character is Voldemort. She enjoys eating donuts and popcorn, kayaking, hiking, and rollerblading.

B.A. in English with an Emphasis in Literature, University of Alaska Southeast (2016)

Biography

Brittni grew up in Palmer, Alaska, but after getting her B.A. in English from University of Alaska Southeast (and realizing her favorite color had suddenly become green), she now calls Juneau home.  Brittni loves seeking out new places and people; during her time at UAS she spent an academic year studying at Universität Bielefeld in Germany and after graduating from UAS she spent 11 months travelling and volunteering in 11 different countries. As a UAS student, she greatly enjoyed her time studying literary theory, coming to terms with her love/hate relationship with creative writing, and working with Residence Life as a Community Advisor. She’s excited to meet new corners of Alaska and share about her experience! Brittni loves manatees, the Germany national football team, sticky rice, reading, and drinking coffee in cute hipster coffee shops.

Dannielle is from Sand Point, Alaska. She earned a Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Social Sciences and Communications from UAS. Dannielle spends her summers commercial fishing out of her hometown. She enjoys crossing kids up on the basketball court and playing outside.

Biography

India was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. She's currently attending UAS and earning her Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Sociology and Political Science. India is the galaxy's biggest One Direction and ZAYN fan, and will not keep quiet about it. She loves to be around people, is always telling bad jokes, and likes to think she's pretty rad. India enjoys sleeping, writing, public speaking, and Harry Styles.

Biography

Manni has lived in Juneau all his life, and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 2014. Manni was part of Juneau’s very first AVID class (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a college preparatory course that has contributed greatly to his college success, life goals, and aspirations. His parents are from Mexico and he is the youngest of four siblings. His dream is to become an Immigration lawyer, and his ultimate goal is to fix issues regarding U.S. immigration law.  

Manni loves Juneau and its people, the Tongass, his parents and family, football, Mac Demarco, and God.
