Student Advising

Faculty Advising

While degree requirements might seem self evident, experience shows that students who "self advise" often take longer than needed to complete their degree programs, which can be costly. Therefore, getting students together with faculty advisors is crucial to success in the Bachelor of Liberal Arts program and to the timely completion of one's degree.

All new students are admitted as BLA Premajors and are advised by UAS Student Resource Center to begin work on completing General Education Requirements for degree admission: http://www.uas.alaska.edu/advising/index.html.

When a student is ready for full admission into the BLA degree program, a faculty advisor is assigned to her or him. When enrolled in the Student Portfolio course, the student will either confirm that advisor appointment or will select a new faculty advisor.
