During this period, ATTAC instructed an Intro to Small Wastewater Systems Workshop in Kotzebue, participated in a Comprehensive Performance Evaluation of Saint Mary's water treatment plant, assisted in the coordination of an O&M of Streaming Current Detectors and Polymer Pumps in Klawock and a DBP and Microbial Rules workshop Anchorage, and organized two AWWA web casts in Sitka.

ATTAC continues to coordinate efforts to revise the Introduction to Small Water Systems Manual. Anyone interested in the project, is asked to contact ATTAC.

Wastewater Facilities Operator
The City and Borough of Sitka is now seeking a Wastewater Facilities Operator. Wage $19.53-20.51/hr. The City and Borough of Sitka is establishing a hiring list for this vacancy. Closing date for applications is no later than 4:45 pm, Friday, January 4, 2008. View job description.

The following intermediate courses will be offered online in January 2008 through the University of Alaska SE Sitka Campus' Environmental Technology (ENVT) Program:

• Water Treatment (3 credits = 4.5 CEUs)
  Check to see if you are eligible for reimbursement of course fees!
• Wastewater Treatment (3 credits = 4.5 CEUs)

These ENVT courses qualify toward the ENVT water and wastewater occupational endorsements and AAS Degree. The ADEC Operator Training and Certification Program recognizes the ENVT courses for CEUs (1 credit = 1.5 CEUs).

Contact Tim Anderson for more information regarding these courses, prerequisites, or the ENVT program. Registration for the Spring 2008 semester is now open and Spring classes begin January 14. Course textbooks should be ordered ASAP!!

An early heads up! The SE AWWMA Conference will be held in Sitka next fall! The dates are September 30-October 1, 2008. Please contact Nicole if you have suggestions for training sessions or are interested in presenting or registering as an exhibitor.

If you live in Alaska and are interested in receiving a book or video please check them out using our online form found on the web page. Items may be borrowed for 45 days.
