The Small Water Systems program covers the hydrologic cycle, basic science concepts, water sources, treatment, distribution and pumping systems, safety, management, and math basics. The program has interactive activities, quizzes, and information individuals can use to help prepare for the State of Alaska water Level 1 certification exams. The information is also useful for certified operators wanting to review various topics. This project was funded by a grant from the US EPA (Assistance Agreement No. X 826891-01-0). The Basic Sanitary Chemistry program was created from two UAS Environmental Technology classes; Basic and Intermediate Sanitary Chemistry/Microbiology. It covers basic chemistry and is applicable to both water and wastewater. Lessons 1 through 11 on the program supports the Basic Sanitary Chemistry/Microbiology class and Lessons 12 through 18 support the Intermediate class. The program is designed for students and operators with no previous chemistry background. The lessons include detailed objectives, instructional text and visuals, interactive instructional screens and self-checks, and unit quizzes.
