Anna White: 2012 Outstanding Graduate — Elementary Education
“I feel accomplished. All my hard work paid off and I could not have done it without my wonderful support system at home and very considerate supervisor, UAS Education faculty Jeffrey Lofthus.”
My name is Anna White. I was born in Gervais, Oregon. My family moved to Alaska when I was about eight years old so I have spent most of my life in the state. I currently live in Voznesenka Village which is about 20 miles east of Homer, AK with my husband and three children. I chose UAS because I was able to finish my degree from home. I enjoyed that I could work, be home in time to be with my family and pursue my degree. After graduation I plan on spending time with my loved ones. It took seven years and I am ready for a new chapter in my life. I am already on the lookout for teaching jobs in our community and in the Homer area and feel up for a challenge. I enjoy nothing more than spending time with my children, doing inside activities such as sewing and re-decorating and outside activities such as hiking, biking and camping. This summer my family and I plan on taking a road trip. We are not sure how far we will go but we would like to see Alaska from another perspective. I feel accomplished. All my hard work paid off and I could not have done it without my wonderful support system at home and very considerate supervisor, UAS Education faculty Jeffrey Lofthus. Thank you all for believing in me and cheering me on. I will forever be grateful.
