Application Procedures
Deadline: All application materials must be received by March 1, 2009, to be considered in the first round for the 2009-2010 program.
The following items are necessary for a complete application:
- A completed graduate application with $60 processing fee; (Note: Admission status notices are mailed out by the School of Education. Conditional admission status may be granted. Conditions must be completed within time specified at admission. For information about online application visit UAS Admissions:)
- An official transcript indicating baccalaureate degree and a GPA of 3.0;
- Transcripts from all universities or colleges attended. These will be used for assessment of applicant's content preparation;
- Two (2) recommendation forms addressing dispositions | .doc (292k) | .pdf (100k) |;

- Information Release Waiver Statement | .doc (292k)|.pdf (72k) |:
- An admissions writing assessment sample consisting of two parts:
- statement of professional objectives,
- and an impromptu writing sample; (Note: There are writing sample guidelines in the packet below for you to follow. Impromptu writing samples may be done at any location. - Praxis I exam results. (Note: You must TAKE the Praxis I test for admission. If you do not pass all sections of the test, you may retake it. You must PASS the Praxis I to complete the program.) Praxis I Information Sheet and Praxis II Information Sheet

Selection Criteria
Teaching intern positions available in the program are limited. Criteria for full admission include:
- successful admission into graduate school
- a bachelor's degree (3.0 GPA*) with reasonable content breadth
- a "pass" on a review of the admission writing assessment sample
- evidence that you have taken the Praxis I tests. (Passing scores are Reading 175, Writing 174, Math 173. Passing scores are necessary to exit the program)
- an available public school intern position
*Conditional admission to the program may be considered for slightly lower GPAs or mitigating conditions.
