ED697 - Independent Study

Credits: 3
Prerequisites: Pre-service teacher or current Teaching Certificate
Offered: Every semester
Tuition and fees vary

To fulfill the requirement for ED 697, students may choose either an elective course or an independent study course. The elective/study must be approved in advance by the program advisor, should relate to Educational Technology, and should be an upper division or graduate level course. Courses taken within the previous seven years may also be used to fulfill this requirement provided they relate to Educational Technology and are approved by the program advisor.

If you choose to do an independent study project, you should complete the Independent Study Contract form and attach a narrative explaining what you want to do and how it fits into your program. Identify which ISTE Leadership Standard(s) your project will address. Return the contract proposal and narrative to Marsha Gladhart for her approval. Once your project has been approved, you may enroll in ED 697.

If you choose to take an elective course, you will need to complete a Course Substitution Form and return that to Marsha Gladhart along with justification of how that course fits into your program of study in Educational Technology. It's advisable to communicate with your advisor about the course substitution before you submit the proposal. Once you have been notified that your request for a course substitution has been approved, you may enroll in the substituted course.
