The program, which began in 1994 and now includes over 1000 educators worldwide, is focused on educational leadership and excellence. The program seeks to recognize educators who integrate technology in their learning environments in meaningful ways, enhance the professional development of these educators, and create a community of educators to share experiences, projects, and ideas. Apple Distinguished Educators serve as advocates of best practice, advisers on the realities of integrating technology into learning environments, and authors of authentic work including exemplary lesson ideas and technology rich content items. Tony traveled to Monterey and Cupertino, California, this summer to participate in the Apple Summer Institute. Held at the CSU Monterey and the Apple Campus, the institute was organized to welcome new ADEs, share the vision of the program, and begin team-building through group project assignments.
