GEOL493-JD1: ST: Advanced GIS in Earth Systems Science for EDGE Teachers (3 CR), 9/4-12/15, 2007, distance course, Tuesdays, 6:00-8:30 pm.

ED593-J13: Earth System Science for EDGE Teachers (3 CR), 8/30-12/15, 2007, distance course, Tuesdays, 6:00-8:30 pm.

ED593-J13 class expands upon earth science content knowledge, teaching, and project strategies through weekly explorations of the text Essentials of Geology. Participants will mentor EDGE students in science fair style projects. Weekly benchmark assignments guides participants through the mentoring process. Projects to be presented during the March EDGE Symposium. The goal of the the National Science Foundation, the University of Alaska and your instructor is to help you as Alaska's teachers and your students expand your enthusiasm, understanding and abilities in earth science so that we can all be prepared to cope with the effects of climate change that is so rapidly changing our state.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of June GEOL 193/ED 593 and ongoing mentoring.
