SAA Presents Eagle Eye, FAFSA Frenzy
The Student Alumni Association kicked of the first Dinner and a Movie event of the New Year on January 17.
The movie featured was Eagle Eye, an action packed film starring Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan. The zesty Mexican food was provided courtesy of Abbie’s Catering Service, offering everything from tortilla chips to chicken enchiladas.
New student Jacob Creasy, 19, of Ketchikan, Alaska was impressed with the friendly attitude at the event and was thrilled with the food provided. “The food was awesome. I didn’t have my sticker yet and they didn’t make me pay, they just told me to get a sticker. I was like ‘sweet!’ I was willing to pay, but they just told me ‘Don’t worry about it!’”
“SAA events are always a good end for a Saturday night, especially when they play a great movie I haven’t see yet.” Amanda Millay, a 19-year-old marine biology major from Seldovia, Alaska said.
Millay also thought it was a good idea to have financial aid available at the event. “Financial aid is more available when you can get all the help and information you need without having to go out of your way to get it. It was a good idea.”
Also available at the Dinner and a Movie was the financial aid department’s FAFSA Frenzy Kickoff. UAS financial aid staff was on hand to help answer any questions students might have about the 2009-2010 FAFSA, applying for financial aid and learning about scholarship applications for the upcoming school year.
This was their first event in FAFSA Frenzy Kickoff scheduled for February. If you would like to know more about scholarships and financial aid, or if you want to check out when the next FAFSA Frenzy event is, visit the UAS financial aid website on UAS online.
