An introduction to International Classification of Diseases 10th Modification. Introduces coding of diagnosis and procedures, sequencing, coding conventions and software. Professional practice experience: student completes online activities using electronic health records and encoding systems.

Topics include the interface between business office and health information management to optimize reimbursement, coding quality studies, and working with physicians for DRG management. Provides practice in analyzing medical records to identify data elements to be coded.

This course is designed to be completed within 15 weeks based on a 6 hour per week commitment.

A required textbook "ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Handbook with Answers, 2012 Revised Edition" is included in the fee and will be mailed to you upon registration.

This is a noncredit training which earns 90 continuing education contact hours.
