This short course explains terms related to cross-connections in potable water systems, the significance of cross-connections to public health, reviews basic distribution system hydraulics, and discusses the theory of backflow and backsiphonage.

The course also covers backflow prevention methods and devices, backflow assembly testing, cross-connection control programs, and ends with examples of potential cross-connection situations and corrective actions.

This is a noncredit training, for Water and Wastewater Operators, which earns 1.5 continuing education contact hours.
