2005-2010: Building Bridges for Alaska Native Students
In 2005, UAS Sitka received a five year Title III grant awarded to Alaska Native and Hawaiian Native Serving Institutions. With this grant, the campus has upgraded their student support system and has worked closely with faculty, providing ongoing pedagogical and technology instruction to faculty teaching online courses. Additionally, this grant has allowed UAS Sitka Campus to form partnerships with local businesses and agencies to develop online trainings for their workforce.
All of the courses developed with the support of the Title III grant will bring steady enrollment to the UAS Sitka Campus as well as contributing to the professional development of a variety of businesses and organizations. Additional funding from the Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian-Serving Institution Program for renovation efforts will allow the campus to upgrade its Health Sciences laboratory, classrooms and distance education infrastructure.
