Joseph G. Nelson Appointed to Director of Admissions and Pre-College Pathways
Provost Roberta Stell and Vice-Chancellor for Student Services and Enrollment Management, Richard A. Dent, are pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph G. Nelson as the Director of Admissions and Pre-College Pathways at UAS, as of June 1st
Mr. Nelson joined UAS as the director of the PITAAS program (Preparing Indigenous Teachers and Administrators for Alaska Schools). He was promoted to the position of Associate Vice-Provost for Student Success where he focused on the development and implementation of UAS’s pre-college pathways programs strengthening relationships with Alaska communities and schools.
In his new assignment, Mr. Nelson will retain responsibility for pre-college pathways and will also add the duties of the Director of Admissions for all UAS programs. Mr. Nelson received his B.A. and M.A.degrees from UCLA and his Jurus Doctor degree from the Loyola Law School. He practiced law in Juneau before joining UAS. He is also a board member of the Sealaska Corporation and the Yak-tat Kwaan village corporation.
