Art of Place: Steve Henrikson and weaver Janice Criswell

All lectures are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University of Alaska Southeast Glacier View room.

The second annual Art of Place lecture and demonstration series began January 27 with a presentation on Chilkat blanket weaving by Alaska State Museum Curator of Collections Steve Henrikson and weaver Janice Criswell. Events take place monthly and feature Alaska Native artists. Future lectures will feature community leader Lyle James and the Woosh.ji.een dance group on Feb. 24, culture bearers and renowned artists Ed Kunz and Percy Kunz on March 23 and Northwest coast basket specialist Helen Watkins on April 27. All lectures are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University of Alaska Southeast Glacier View room. A dessert potluck is held during the first three events, and the final lecture will feature a potluck of Alaska Native foods.
