Provost Caulfied presents Dean Sousa with her awardProvost Rick Caulfield honors Dean of Arts and Sciences Marsha Sousa with her 10 Years of Service Award. Sousa and Caulfield both worked at UAF before becoming part of the UAS Community.

Dr. Marsha Sousa has a career in the University of Alaska system that dates back to 1989. Since that time she has had nearly every type of academic appointment possible, including dean, associate director, professor, coordinator, adjunct instructor, and research associate. Over the years she has distinguished herself and been the recipient of many honors including the Usibelli Distinguished Teaching Award (2008), Outstanding Faculty Senator (2007), Outstanding Advisor Award (1995, 2000), and serving as editor of professional journals. She did all this while conducting research and publishing numerous journal articles and abstracts. We’re fortunate that Marsha chose to join the UAS family in 2010 as Dean of Arts and Sciences and as Vice Provost for Research and Sponsored Programs.
