Celebrating Faculty Excellence

It is with great pride that the University of Alaska Southeast announces the recent promotion and/or tenure of eight of our esteemed faculty.

Brian Blitz
Teaching from the Juneau campus in the UAS School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Brian Blitz has been promoted to full professor. Dr. Blitz holds a doctorate in Mathematics from Washington State University, an M.S.  from Northern Arizona University, and a  B.S. from University of Chicago.

Caroline Hassler
From the Egan Library on the Juneau campus, Ms. Caroline Hassler has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. Ms. Hassler earned a Master of Library Science from the University of Maryland, a Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University Extension School, and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Kevin Maier
Teaching from the Juneau campus in the  UAS School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Kevin Maier has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Maier holds a Doctorate in English, an M.A. from University of Oregon and a B.A. from Western Washington University.


Andrzej Piotrowski
Teaching from the Juneau campus in the UAS  School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Andrzej Piotrowski has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Piotrowski holds  a doctorate from the University of Hawaii, and B.S. and M.S. from the University of New Hampshire.

Tony Martin
Prior to leaving the UAS School of Career Education, Mr. Martin was promoted to Full Professor. Mr. Martin holds an A.A.S. in Diesel Technology and B.S. in Technology from the University of Alaska Anchorage. 

Teaching from the Ketchikan campus, in the  School of Arts and Sciences, Ms. Colleen Ianuzzi has been promoted to Associate  Professor with tenure. Ms. Ianuzzi holds a B.S. in Wildlife Biology and an M.S. in  Statistics from the University of Alaska  Fairbanks. 

Teaching from the Ketchikan campus in the School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Daniel Lord  has been granted tenure. Dr. Lord holds  an A.M., M.S., Ph.D. and M.P.H. all from the University of Michigan. Dr. Lord also holds an A.B. from the University of  California Santa Cruz.

Thomas Duke
Prior to leaving UAS, Dr. Thomas Duke was promoted to Full Professor. Dr. Duke earned his  doctorate at University of Hawaii at Manoa, an M.F.A. at Hunter College of the City University of New York, an M.S.Ed. in Special Education at  City College of the City University of New York,  and a B.F.A. in Art at the University of Texas.

These eight faculty, together, have provided nearly sixty years of teaching to students of the University of Alaska Southeast. Please join UAS as we congratulate them.
