Alaska State Film LibraryThe fifth annual festival of vintage and historical films and videos from the Alaska State Library Historical Collections is Friday, March 28, 7 p.m. on the UAS Auke Lake Campus. Shown will be “Though the Earth Be Moved”, a documentary detailing the relief efforts after the March 27, 1964 Alaskan earthquake in honor of the 50th anniversary of the event; Juneau: Alaska’s Capital City”, a 1960s documentary about our town produced by the late National Geographer photographer and Juneau resident Amos Burg; and, just in time for Seward’s Day March 31, Elmer Rasmussen discusses America’s purchase of Alaska from Russia in an episode of the “Heritage of Alaska” series. Free and open to the public.
