Help for Students and Employees affected by the Landslides in SE Alaska
We received the news of landslides across Southeast Alaska in the last 36 hours. We have UAS students and employees who are from and/or in Wrangell, Ketchikan, and across Prince of Wales Island.
UAS Faculty & Staff: Great Colleges to Work For Survey--sharing the results!
UAS has participated in the Great Colleges to Work For Survey for the past 3 years. I'd like to share the results with all of you and discuss the areas in which we are doing well as an institution and the areas in which we have challenges and opportunities, now that we have 3 years of data. It is very important to me and to our executive leadership team that UAS is a fulfilling place to work.
November is Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and American Indian Heritage Month!
While it is important to appreciate and celebrate the cultures, traditions, languages, art, and histories of Indigenous Peoples all year long, this month presents a special opportunity to honor their long-standing stewardship of these lands and their innumerable contributions to the world.

Our admissions data show that we are up in new applicants for spring by 35% and in newly admitted students for spring by 33% in comparison to last year at this time!

This day is an important one for the United States and particularly significant for our university. We are a university where one in every five students has Alaska Native heritage. We are proud to be a center for Indigenous Studies, where the history, languages, culture, art, and wisdom of the native peoples of Southeast Alaska and beyond can be passed on to current and future generations of Alaska Natives and to the world at large.
