After entering the search criteria, you will be presented with roommates who meet that criteria. You may need to adjust the criteria to reduce or increase the number of potential roommates.

How to Accept or Decline a Request

On the Roommate Selection page, select "Requests." Here, you can view the people who have requested for you to be their roommates. You can view their profile by clicking on the options below a name and either accept or decline their request by using the same options function.

Note: You may still be placed with someone you declined a roommate request for due to our small population size. If there is an individual you do not want to be placed with, please email us at uas.housing@alaska.edu.

Roommate Request Example

After requesting a roommate, you will see their name highlighted yellow. This means that roommate request is not matched. Your request will receive an email prompting to accept or deny a request. To manage a request you have sent or received, select the three dots next to the request's name. You'll be presented with options to deny, accept, or unmatch.

Roommate Groups

All roommate requests and groups must be fully matched. This means that if you wish to live with three other people, you must have requested all three individuals; they must have accepted those requests, and they must have requested and accepted all other individuals in your group. The roommate selection process will inform you if your group is not fully matched.

Roommate Group Example

If you submit multiple roommate requests, all roommates will need to request each other and accept in order for a fully matched group. You will see who needs to request each other in order to form a fully matched group. Other individuals will not necessarily see that they are missing matches.
