Covid-19 Operations

The UAS Ketchikan Campus Library is open to students and the public 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday. Masks are required on campus and in the library at all times, regardless of vaccination status. Call 907-228-4567 if you have questions.

According to the Collection Development Policy Statement of the UAS Ketchikan Campus Library, materials are acquired by the Campus Library in accordance with the following priorities, ranked in descending order of importance:

  1. Materials capable of supporting basic certificate and associate degree level instruction in those areas in which courses are offered;
  2. Materials appropriate for faculty use in research directly related to classroom instruction; and
  3. Materials appropriate for regional use.

Materials for the Campus Library are primarily selected by the Librarian, with the assistance of UAS Ketchikan faculty members. However, all library users are encouraged to participate in the selection process. A specific form is not required; after confirming in the Library Catalog that the item is not already in the Campus Library's collection, simply print out a page from an online vendor describing the book or other article, or write down the title, author, publisher, date of publication and ISBN (International Standard Book Number) on a piece of paper and submit your request to any staff member at the Campus Library. If you would like to place a hold on the item once it is purchased and processed, please include your name, address and telephone number with your request. Your request will be considered according to the guidelines set forth by the Collection Development Policy Statement.

Book Request Form

The UAS Ketchikan Campus Library accepts gifts of useful materials, provided they meet the same criteria as applied to materials purchased, and provided there are no restrictions attached to their disposition or location. No inventory listing will be provided, and because the Campus Library is defined as a "party of interest" by the courts and the Internal Revenue Service, the Library cannot be involved in the appraisal of gifts for purposes of tax deductions for donors.

Regarding serial subscriptions, the Campus Library is pleased to accept donations of funds which can be used to establish subscriptions for titles which meet the criteria set forth in the Collection Development Policy Statement, but does not accept gift subscriptions.
