Scholarships
Scholarships are one of the best ways to support attaining your degree.
Funding sources include federal and state government, corporations, and individuals who believe in investing in student education. Scholarships are gifts; they do not have to be paid back after graduation. New and continuing students can apply for all scholarships offered by the UA Foundation with a single general application.
The deadline to apply is February 15 to be considered for scholarships for the following academic year. Select scholarships may be available after this date. Criteria for scholarships will vary.
How to apply for scholarships
Kaleidoscope is the scholarship application portal for the University of Alaska. Applicants will be automatically matched with scholarship opportunities for which they meet the criteria. Kaleidoscope also includes information on private and external scholarships and deadlines (select Opportunities > External menu option).

- Complete the General Application and any supplemental applications presented.
- If you are awarded a scholarship you will receive an award notification to your UA email address.
- Log in to Kaleidoscope anytime to check the status of your application and related deadlines.
Notes
- You must complete a new General Application at the beginning of each fall semester.
- If Financial Need is a scholarship requirement, you must file a FAFSA between December 1 and February 15.
Housing Scholarships
Chancellor's Award
This merit-based scholarship is awarded to new full-time students (whether first-time students or transfers) based upon academic achievement. The award covers partial costs of on-campus housing for a new student's first year at UAS. Incoming students with a 3.5 or higher GPA are eligible once their FAFSA has been completed. Awards are applied to student accounts automatically with no additional application required.
Please be aware that if your housing is covered by third-party funding, this award will be removed.
