Native and Rural Student Center
Provides Alaska Native students with a campus home base where they feel welcome. The NRSC allows them to observe role models, interact with peers, and receive encouragement and succeed in the UAS environment.
Yak'ei haat yigoodee — (It is good that you have come)
The Native & Rural Student Center (NRSC) is located on the lower floor of the Mourant building directly across from the Student Resources desk.
The mission of the NRSC is to create a student-centered inclusive environment that honors diversity, celebrates cultural traditions and knowledge, and enhances the learning experiences of the University of Alaska Southeast students.
Since 1996, the NRSC has provided a warm, inviting atmosphere filled with opportunities to gather with peers, receive academic support, and develop leadership skills.
The NRSC is your home away from home!
The NRSC is a designated Safe Zone
Safe Zones at UAS are places where students can feel welcome. The purpose of Safe Zone is to reduce homophobia and heterosexism on the UAS campus, making our campus a safer and freer environment for all members of our community regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
