UAS Announces New Director of Public Relations and Marketing, Katie Bausler

Katie brings more than 20 years of radio and television broadcasting experience as a writer, host, narrator and producer.

Katie Bausler has been appointed to the position of UAS Director of Public Relations and Marketing. She replaces Kevin Myers, who served in the position since December 2002.

Katie brings more than 20 years of radio and television broadcasting experience as a writer, host, narrator and producer.  Katie has a Master of Arts in English from Middlebury College in Vermont and a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communications Arts and International Relations from San Francisco State University.  Most courses for her Master’s Degree were taken at the Breadloaf School of English UAS campus.

Katie just completed an annual report for the philanthropic Juneau Community Foundation, which helps donors establish funds for local non-profits.  She has covered the Alaska State Legislature for KTUU-TV, Anchorage and hosted Morning Edition on KTOO-FM, Juneau. As a contract producer for KTOO-TV, she recently produced an Alaska follow-up to the PBS “The War” series featuring conversations with Alaskan World War 2 veterans. Katie worked with Kevin Myers to develop the Alaska College Track public television series, which since 2004 has been telling the stories of Southeast Alaska Native students, many of them the first in their immediate families to attend college.
