Feb 24 Sound and Motion: Treasures from the State Film Library

This third annual festival of short vintage films and videos from the basement of the Alaska State Library Historical Collections has proven very popular with local audiences.

"Treasures from the State Film Library" rounds out the Films in February portion of the Sound and Motion Arts at Egan series.  This third annual festival of short vintage films and videos from the basement of the Alaska State Library Historical Collections has proven very popular with local audiences.  Films will be shown at the Egan Lecture Hall on the UAS Auke Lake campus on Friday, February 24 at 7 p.m.

This year Media Specialist Damon Stuebner will be showing seven films including a humorous 1967 cartoon about how Alaska became a Russian colony, rare 1954 footage of Senator Ernest Gruening promoting the benefits of Statehood, a National Parks Service film highlighting the beauty of Glacier Bay from the 1970s, and a 1968 Lassie short film shot in the Juneau area.
