Dr. Jason Amundson has been promoted to Associate Professor of Geophysics with tenure.

It is with great pride that the University of Alaska Southeast announces the recent promotion and/or tenure of our esteemed faculty.  Please join UAS as we congratulate them.

Dr. Jason Amundson has been promoted to Associate Professor of Geophysics with tenure in the Department of Natural Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau Campus.  Dr. Amundson holds a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Geophysics from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and a B.S. in Geology and Geological Engineering from the University of Minnesota.  

Dr. Reid Brewer has been promoted to Professor of Fisheries Technology with tenure in the School of Career Education on the UAS Sitka Campus.  Dr. Brewer holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Marine Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a B.S. in Environmental Science/Systems Engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point. He recently received the Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching.  

Susie Feero has been promoted to Associate Professor of Health Information Management with tenure in the Department of Health Sciences in the School of Career Education on the UAS Sitka campus.  Associate Professor Feero holds a M.Ed. from the University of Alaska Southeast and a B.B.A. in Business Administration and Management from the University of Hawaii-Hilo.  

Robin Gilcrist has been promoted to Associate Professor of Construction Technology with tenure in the School of Career Education on the UAS Juneau campus.  Associate Professor Gilcrist holds a B.A. in Art from the University of Hawaii, and a M.Ed. in Educational Technology from the University of Alaska Southeast.  She is as a licensed State of Alaska Contractor with a Residential Endorsement; is an accredited AutoCAD certified user, and is certified to teach National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum.  

Leslie Gordon has been promoted to Professor of Health Information Management in the Department of Health Sciences in the School of Career Education on the UAS Sitka campus.  Professor Gordon holds a B.A. and M.S. in Health Information Management from the College of Saint Scholastica, and holds two professional certificates from The American Health Information Management Association.  She recently received the Faculty Excellence Award in Faculty Advising.

Maren Haavig has been promoted to Associate Professor of Accounting with tenure in the Department of Business & Public Administration in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau campus.  Associate Professor Haavig holds a B.A. from Western Washington University and a M.P.A. and B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Alaska Southeast. 

Ernestine Hayes has been promoted to Associate Professor of English with tenure in the Department of Humanities in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau campus.  Associate Professor Hayes holds a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a B.L.A in Communication from the University of Alaska Southeast.  She was also awarded the 2017 Alaska Writer Laureate.  

Dr. Kevin Krein has been promoted to Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Humanities in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau Campus.  Dr. Krein holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Philosophy from the University of Toronto and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Willamette University.  

Jonas Lamb has been promoted to Associate Professor of Library Science with tenure in the Egan Library on the UAS Juneau campus. 

Associate Professor Lamb holds a B.A. in General Studies from the University of Michigan, and M.S. in Library and Information Sciences from Drexel University, and is currently seeking a M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Literary Arts: Poetry from the University of Alaska Anchorage.  

Jon Martin, Assistant Professor of Biology on the UAS Sitka campus, has been granted tenure.  Assistant Professor Martin holds a B.S. in Molecular & Microbiology from Washington State University/Portland State University and a M.S. in Biology from Portland State University.  He is currently seeking a Ph.D. in Wildlife Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. 

Dr. Amanda Sesko has been promoted to Associate Professor of Psychology with tenure in the Department of Social Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau Campus.  Dr. Sesko holds a Ph.D. and a M.A. in Social Psychology, with a minor in Quantitative Psychology from the University of Kansas, and a B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.  

Dr. Heidi Pearson has been promoted to Associate Professor of Marine Biology in the Department of Natural Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau Campus.  Dr. Pearson holds a Ph.D. in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University, and a B.S. in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy from Duke University.  

Dr. Glenn Wright has been promoted to Associate Professor of Political Science in the Department of Social Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau campus.  Associate Professor Wright holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and M.A and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Colorado-Boulder. 

Tim Powers, Sr. has been promoted to Professor of Information Systems in the Department of Business and Public Administration in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Juneau Campus.  Professor Powers obtained a M.S. in Information Technology Management with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School and a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences from the United States Coast Guard Academy.

Dr. Bill Urquhart II has been promoted to Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences on the UAS Ketchikan campus.  Associate Professor Urquhart holds a B.S. in Sociology from Oregon State University, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from Tulane University.
