International Correspondent Peter Kenyon to Speak at UAS News Engagement Day
Kenyon started his public radio career at KFSK in Petersburg, Alaska, then went on to cover the Alaska State Legislature for the Alaska Public Radio Network. He joined NPR in 1995 as a Washington, D.C. correspondent, reporting on the U.S. Senate and the White House. Kenyon moved to Cairo in 2005 where he covered the Middle East and North Africa for five years before taking an assignment in Istanbul.September 4, 2018
Coeur Alaska Inc. $20,000 Donation Creates More Opportunities for Hands-on Undergraduate Work
In total Coeur Alaska has donated $124,000 to UAS and a total of $156,700 to the UA system since 2011. They have given $4,000 in a joint scholarship with HECLA and Southeast Conference and $32,700 to UAA for visiting professors of public policy.August 24, 2018

Tlingit Master Carver Wayne Price Joins University of Alaska Southeast Northwest Coast Arts Faculty
In addition to totems, Price uses his Master Carver skills to create canoes and paddles, masks, boxes, drums, and regalia for dance and ceremonies. He has been carving since 1971, and has been an apprentice under other master carvers and artists, including Ed Kasko, Leo Jacobs, and John Hagen. His art is featured throughout the world.August 14, 2018

Dr. Tom Thornton Named as New UAS Dean of Arts and Sciences
As dean, Dr. Thornton will provide leadership for the school and its four departments: Business and Public Administration, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The position promotes UAS’ mission focusing on student learning and success, and providing robust high impact learning opportunities for students. Gordon currently serves as professor and program director for Health Information Management, and as assistant director of academic affairs. She has taught more than ten years at the campus and has built the Health Information Management (HIM) program into a vibrant, rigorous, externally-accredited program.
