Coeur Alaska commits $100,000 to support University of Alaska Southeast diesel and welding courses for Juneau high school students
The University of Alaska Southeast and Coeur Alaska, Inc. are pleased to announce Coeur’s commitment to fund introductory diesel and welding courses for local high school students at the UAS School of Career and Technical Education. Coeur’s $100,000 commitment will cover students’ tuition and fees through Spring 2026, significantly boosting the program’s accessibility and sustainability.December 11, 2024

Dr. Ernestine Hayes presenting “Pleistocene Raven: Old Stories, New Writing”
Dr. Hayes, the Alaska State Writer Laureate from 2017 to 2019, will present her new work with the Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellowship project, which centers on three ancient Raven stories of fire, water, and daylight. Sharing her work with First Nations Development Institute, Hayes proposes that oral history and Western science tell stories of the same events, each complementing the other and both filling essential human needs.October 15, 2024
