The occupational endorsement in Certified Nursing Aide Training provides education and training to students in both theory and basic nursing skills necessary to become efficient, productive members of a healthcare team. Students must successfully pass the didactic portion of the coursework with 75% (C) or higher and pass the skills/clinical training with 100% in order to qualify to sit for the Alaska State Nurse Aide certification exam. A minimum of 60 hours of lecture and 80 hours of skills and clinical training are required.
Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) Training

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Training is a 9-credit course designed to train entry level workers in basic skills needed to assist nurses and to be efficient health care team members. Because of the personal nature of a job, a CNA should be compassionate and enjoy aiding others. In hospitals, long-term care and nursing facilities, a CNA is often a patient’s essential caregiver. Additionally, CNAs work with medical technology, such as health information software and medical record charting software.
Train for a High Demand Profession
CNA training is a sought after skill development program in an Alaskan market where CNAs are in short supply. It is also a stable avenue for getting a foot into the healthcare industry. The course includes classroom instruction, lab training, skill practice, and the clinical application of knowledge and skills.
Become a Licensed CNA
Students who successfully complete the program with a C (2.00) or higher will be eligible to take the State of Alaska Nurse Aide Examination for Certification. The application process for the Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification examination requires fingerprinting and a background check.
Eligibility to complete the CNA certification exam may be denied by the Alaska Board of Nursing if the applicant has committed an act or omission that would constitute grounds for denial of certification. Details are provided on the Alaska Board of Nursing website.
