Travel information

Lodging

Lodging in Juneau can be expensive and difficult to get during the summer, so we encourage you to make reservations early. You are responsible for making your own reservations.

Campus housing

We have set aside 58 rooms in campus housing. The rooms have two single beds and shared kitchenettes. The rate is $81/night for single occupancy and $46/night for double occupancy and includes breakfast at the university cafeteria. Reservations can be made here. Note that there is limited availability the last night of the conference.

Important information about campus housing can be found here. Note that the rentals include linens but not toiletries or kitchenware. The kitchenettes do have microwaves and refrigerators, and there is a communal kitchen in John Pugh Hall that does have kitchenware. The current plan is that you will be given food tickets for breakfast, which will you turn in at Mourant Cafeteria when you go to breakfast. Breakfast will be served from 8:00-9:00 am and will include a breakfast bar and fresh fruit.

Other lodging

We have also blocked 30 rooms each at the Ramada ($225-$235/night for rooms with two queen beds; group code CGUA62) and at the Baranof ($209/night for rooms with one queen bed; group code 1V7KK1A4) in downtown Juneau.

Juneau also has several other hotels and bed and breakfasts.

Local transportation

We have arranged a shuttle bus to take participants from the university to downtown Juneau on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. The bus will leave the university at 5:15 pm and return from "Marine Park" at 8:30 pm. It will do two runs if there is not enough space for everybody.

The university is also accesible by public transportation as well taxi/Uber/Lyft. Regrettably, the express bus between downtown and the university has been temporarily suspended due to a shortage of drivers.
