I grew up with a teacher for a mom and a police officer for a dad. These role models showed me the importance of serving our communities in ways that engage our hearts and minds. Education is a natural fit for me since I enjoy connecting and sharing with others, especially in ways that help them grow and build their confidence.
I spent 24 years growing up in NE Ohio where the trails, waterfalls, and fall leaves left vivid memories. After getting married, I went to Colorado where I spent 12 years along the Front Range, ending with a lovely few years in Salida where my husband and I enjoyed the small-town life with our two young boys. We adventured to Alaska in 2009, and raised our kids on the Kenai Peninsula where I worked as a teacher and then as an interventionist. After those years, I transitioned to the district office where I was an instructional coach, an intervention specialist, and I rounded out my K-12 career as the Intervention and Assessment Coordinator as well as the principal for two small, rural schools.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my boys who are now adults and my family in Ohio, playing with my dog, and reading. I also love the arts.
