Courtney MacArthur lives and works with gratitude on the unceded territories of the Sheetkʼá Ḵwáan on Lingít Aaní, now known as Sitka, Alaska.  She is employed as a Student Support Specialist at the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS).  She is also a senior in the BA Social Science program at UAS.  After graduation, she intends to pursue a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Higher Education from UAS as well.  She is inspired by her field of work: increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within postsecondary educational institutions. She believes that education is a driver of democracy and socioeconomic status. She is passionate about eliminating barriers to educational access for all individuals, especially first-generation and Alaska Native students.  Prior to working at UAS she worked in special education at the Sitka School District.
