Biography

John Pothast is an Assistant Professor for UAS's Ed Leadership Program.  He has 34 years experience in public K-12 education, with 21 of those years in Alaska.  Over that time period, John has been a classroom teacher, both a high school and elementary school principal, a district-level director, and a Superintendent.  Much of his work in his leadership roles has been about innovating education, rethinking and redefining the terms "teaching" and "learning", and working to develop personalized learning environments to better meet the needs of students and teachers.
