I arrange travel for the UAS School of Education faculty and staff. Whether people are traveling to supervise our interns that are spread across the state or traveling to attend educational conventions, I am there to help. I also arrange placements in Alaskan schools for students who are completing their student teaching internships.
I love that UAS is accessible, especially the programs at the School of Education. A lot of the courses can be found online and there are whole degree programs where you don’t have to be on one of the main campuses. I graduated from UAS so that I could stay in Juneau and continue my education.
When I was in elementary school I remember having a hard time reading certain books, especially when reading aloud. One of the teachers sat with me and did a reading test where she realized that I wasn’t having trouble with reading the text itself but I was struggling to track what line I was on due to the small text size on the page. Eventually, I could read smaller text without jumping around the page but I always think of her when I find myself drawn to books with larger text in them.
