Biography

A lifelong advocate for education, community engagement, and student success, Nona is known for her creativity, organizational expertise, and ability to build meaningful connections. Her professional background includes service with the Alaska State Legislature, the Alaska Department of Education, labor organizations, and public education, providing her with a broad understanding of the educational landscape and the communities it serves.

Nona recently earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Behavioral Health Sciences and was recognized as the University of Alaska Southeast Outstanding Student in Behavioral Health Sciences. In 2026, she was also honored with the UAS Staff Excellence Award in recognition of her outstanding service, initiative, and contributions to the university community. She is continuing her studies toward a bachelor's degree while pursuing interests in behavioral health, recovery support, forest therapy, and community wellness.

Outside of work, Nona is an active volunteer who has contributed to numerous nonprofit organizations and community events. She has coached young athletes with the Juneau Ski Club, supported community celebrations and arts initiatives, and advocates for outdoor recreation and youth development. She enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs and can often be found exploring the outdoors, organizing projects, or connecting with her community.
