Sarah Niecko

Adjunct, Behavioral Health 
Career Education: Health Sciences




Dr. Niecko has called Alaska home for over ten years.  She holds a bachelors in Psychology from Michigan State University, a Masters of Medicine from Western Michigan University, and a Doctorate of Health Sciences from Nova Southeastern University. She has been on 20+ international medical trips of various lengths working with underserved populations in Haiti, Nepal, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. She is a founding member and serves as the vice president for Taramaneh Sierra Leone, a non-profit organization in Sierra Leone, West Africa that provides mental health services to the country's most vulnerable. She partnered with the University of Alaska Southeast in 2019 and developed a Behavioral Health Aide Occupational Endorsement to help address the growing mental health needs of communities across Alaska.  Since then, she has been an adjunct professor with UAS helping spearhead the endorsement. Her research interests include the mind/ body connection and integrative behavioral health.
