Biography
Sylvan is originally from the Midwest, having grown up in Michigan and then lived in Chicago for a decade prior to moving to Alaska in 2003. She initially lived in Fairbanks for 12 years, where she worked for the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) and at Information Insights, a consulting firm. Since moving to Juneau 11 years ago, Sylvan has worked for the State of Alaska in various leadership roles, including Director of several divisions, Assistant Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner across multiple departments. Outside of work, Sylvan and her husband enjoy being active in the Juneau community and exploring the local hiking trails with their dog.
