Student Employee Waiver
The Student Employee Waiver allows student employees to request an exception to UA Student Employment policies, including the minimum cumulative GPA requirement and weekly work‑hour limits.
The waiver process is overseen by Enrollment Management and Student Affairs and requires approval from Vice Chancellor Lori Klein.
Students must submit the Student Employee Waiver form when requesting an exception to University of Alaska Student Employment policies (P09.05.020.030), including the minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA requirement or a workload exceeding 20 hours per week. The form must be completed, signed by both the student and their supervisor, and submitted to the Vice Chancellor before any exceptions will be reviewed.
Note: Foreign nationals on temporary student visas (F-1 or J-1) are not permitted to work more than 20 hours per week while classes are in session and are therefore not eligible for a workload waiver.
