Protection of Minors
Overview
The University of Alaska Southeast is pleased to host minors in our classrooms and on our campuses, and holds the protection and safety of minors in high priority. We are committed to providing every employee with training to ensure the protection of minors who access our campuses and services. Training requirements and additional information about protection of minors can be found in the University of Alaska Board of Regents Protection of Minors Regulation.
If you are interested in developing a program, activity, or camp involving minors, there are additional requirements outlined in regulation or on this website.

Online Registration
If a minor is participating in a UAS program, event or activity and there is an expectation that UAS personnel (including staff, faulty, students, and/or volunteers) will provide supervision for that child (or children), the program, event or activity must be registered. Supervision by UAS is expected if there is no parent and/or third party chaperone present during the activity.
If a third party group is bringing minors to campus to participate in a UAS hosted program, event or activity and it is not a public event, the program, event or activity must be registered.
If a third party is using facilities and space on the UAS campus to provide a program, event or activityinvolving minors, it must be registered.
Performances or events open to the general public and not targeted to minors (e.g. athletic events, concerts, plays, etc).
Activities occurring within the context of a numbered UA academic, non-credit, or continuing education course.
K-12 Schools and K-12 School Districts visiting UA outside of a UA Sponsored Program, visiting outside of a UA Sponsored Activity, or operating a program on a UA campus are exempt from this regulation, but must abide by their own supervisory requirements and certifications, including the ratio of authorized adult(s) to minors. The K-12 School or K-12 School District shall be responsible for the care of its minors at all times.
Child care providers visiting UA outside of a UA Sponsored Program or UA Sponsored Activity are exempt from this regulation, but must abide by their own supervisory requirements and certifications, including the ratio of authorized adult(s) to minors. The child care provider shall be responsible for the care of its minors at all times.
Complete registration is required 30 days prior to the start of event, activity or program.
