Update

Effective in AY2024, the functions previously managed by TLTR have been taken over by the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT). This consolidation aims to streamline efforts and improve support for educational initiatives within the institution.

Purpose

The Regional Teaching, Learning, and Technology Roundtable (TLTR) was a shared governance committee at UAS that reported both to the Faculty Senate and to the Provost. The TLTR made recommendations to the Senate and Provost about best practices in technology-enhanced learning, faculty and staff professional development needs, and facilities and support services available to improve teaching and learning with technology. Going forward, CELT will build on the foundation laid by the TLTR to further enhance the educational experience at UAS by supporting faculty with resources and support for educational technology.

History

The Juneau Campus TLTR was initially formed in the fall of 1995. A significant national effort, under the auspices of the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation(AAHEA), was established to coordinate and provide mutual assistance in these activities and others among many institutions of higher learning. For more information, visit theWebsite for The TLT Group, an affiliate of AAHEA.

These functions are now being continued and expanded on by the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), which provides recommendations about, and regional support for UAS faculty in instructional design, educational technology innovation, and professional development. CELT has offices and representatives on all three UAS campuses to assist faculty. CELT supports faculty in the design and development of quality courses as well as the integration of technology into courses. Instructional designers provide training and consultation in the use of all UAS technologies. CELT Faculty Liaison(s) are identified in collaboration with the Egan Library, Provost, and Faculty Senate to assist in identifying and facilitating faculty support at UAS.
