The annual fall lecture series, Evening at Egan, wraps up this Friday, December 13, at 7 p.m. with a Winter Fire Showcase. The creative showcase will feature current work and performances of poetry, comedy, visual arts, and drama by UAS community members. Join us for an evening event designed to inspire a discussion around the vibrant and varied artistry that enriches our community.
Featuring
Geoff Kirsch, Comedy, Assistant Professor of English at UAS
Geoff Kirsch is a Juneau-based writer and humorist best known locally for his award-winning column “Slack Tide” in the Juneau Empire. Geoff will present his comedic writing.
Davina (Cole) Drones, Visual Arts, Northwest Coast Arts Coordinator at UAS
Davina (Cole) Drones is an award-winning visual artist who works with fibers, skins, and other regalia. Davina will share her artistic process as an Indigenous artist.
Brian Palmer, Poetry, editor of THINK: A Journal of Poetry, Fiction, and Essays
Brian Palmer taught a wide range of literature and writing classes and was the theater director at a high school in Colorado for many years. Brian will read excerpts of his poetry.
Carin Silkaitis, Drama, Interim Provost and Professor of Humanities at UAS
Carin Silkaitis spent years working as a Chicago actor and director before moving to Juneau. Carin will perform a theatrical exploration of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour, sharing personal connections to Swift’s music and a unique perspective on the intersection of art and fandom.

The final event will take place in the Egan Library on the Juneau Campus and be live-streamed from the UAS YouTube Channel. Information about the lecture series. Evening at Egan lectures are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.
