Evening at Egan Series Returns Sept. 19

Juneau, Alaska- Join Portland-based Filmmaker Vu Pham for a film screening and discussion of how history, memory, and trauma have shaped his life and art.
The University of Alaska Southeast’s annual fall lecture series, Evening at Egan, kicks off Friday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. In “Sea Rose Ashes: A Filmmaker’s Meditations on Memory, Identity, Trauma, and Violence,” Portland-based filmmaker Vu Pham will screen his forthcoming film-in-progress and engage in a discussion with members of the UAS community.
Pham’s inaugural documentary follows the unexpected, haunting odyssey that took him from Juneau at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to his search for the man who took his mother’s life and, finally, his journey to Vietnam to repatriate her ashes.
