Moving Out

Check-Out Types

There are three check-out types for units at UAS Housing. Determine which check-out type applies to you and then select the appropriate tab below:

  • Winter Break Checkout: You are leaving for the winter break between fall and spring semesters and you are returning to the same exact bedroom for the spring semester.
  • Closeout: You are moving out of Housing entirely at any point during the year.
  • Relocation: You are moving from one unit to another within Housing at any point during the year.

Personal Belongings and Relocations

Residents are not required to move their belongings out of their unit during Winter Break if they are returning to the same unit Spring semester. If you are interested in moving to another unit for the Spring Semester, please contact a member of the professional staff as soon as possible, and see the "Relocation" tab

Winter Break Checkout Guide

As residents are temporarily vacating their units for Winter Break, this particular checkout process focuses on ensuring that units are in a clean and functional condition to welcome new residents in the Spring. For example, a new roommate could move-in to a unit before the existing occupants return from Break.  Checkout tasks are geared towards conserving energy used by appliances, ensuring proper sanitation, and securely locking premises until residents return in Spring.

Winter Break Parking Reminder

Residents leaving vehicles over Break are directed to park in specific areas of our parking lots to allow for effective snow removal around remaining stationary vehicles. Residence Life will advertise these locations prior to and during the checkout process.

Step 1: Sign up for a winter break checkout

Sign Up for a Checkout

Using the link above, select a Winter Break Checkout date so that your date is on file with Residence Life. Staff will NOT meet with you at your unit. On the date of your check-out, log back into Self-Service, complete the checkout process, then place your key in a Winter Break Checkout envelope (available at Housing desk locations), and return it to Residence Life.

Setting a Winter Break Express Checkout Date and Completing that Express Checkout is managed on the main screen of Student Housing Self Service in the "Assignments" section. To select a date, select it from the drop down menu, then select "Update my Time."

On the day of your Express Checkout, log back in to Self Service. The Winter Break Express Checkout section will now say "Begin Express Checkout." Read the information presented carefully, then complete your checkout. After completing the process in Housing Self Service, be sure to turn your keys into a desk location using a Winter Break Checkout Envelope.
