Hours & Closures
Semester Hours:
The hours of the REC Center are based on the University of Alaska academic year calendar and follow the same or similar schedule with the addition of National Guard Closures on approximately one weekend per month (below). The hours of the REC Center are posted on the door and can also be texted to you by joining our text service. If you have a smartphone, get push notifications by going to rmd.at/uasrec2. To get text notifications to any phone, text the message @uasrec3 to the number 81010.
Spring Hours
- Monday-Friday: 8am to 10pm
- Saturday & Sunday: 11am to 8pm
*Hours are contingent on the health and safety of the REC Center staff. Unexpected or changed hours will be posted on our front door and texted to our group text. To join our remind group visit our Remind page.
National Guard Closures
The REC Center will be closed, during the following dates for the Joint Use of the Alaska Army National Guard (AANG). These dates are also provided on the REC Center calendar.
Spring 2026
National Guard closures are released in September for the following year's closures. Closures will be posted when provided.

Holiday Closures & Adjusted Hours
During the academic year the main campus closes during holidays. These dates are posted well in advance on the academic calendar. Some services on campus will remain open or have adjusted hours during closures to include Food Service, REC Center, and Lodge Desk / Freshman Housing Desk.
Spring 2026
- January 5 & 6, 2026: Closed due to UAS Remote/Winter Conditions
- January 9-11, 2026: Closed due to UAS Remote/Winter Conditions
- January 19, 2026: Closed for Alaska Civil Rights Day
- March 9-13, 2026: Reduced hours for Spring Break (11am-8pm)
- April 27, 2026: Reduced hrs. for Final Week, Summer hrs. begin (11am-8pm)
