The nomination period for the UAS Provost's Office and Faculty Senate's 2026 Academic Year Faculty Excellence Awards is open.
This year's celebration of Faculty Excellence will be held on Monday May 4, 2026.
Purpose of Award
To recognize and award faculty excellence in Teaching, Research and Creative Activity, Service, Faculty Advising, and Open Educational Practices.
The UA President's Adjunct Faculty Award program recognizes excellence in adjunct instruction.
Awards are presented at the UAS Celebration of Faculty Excellence the Monday following commencement.
Who is Eligible?
Full-Time Awards: All full-time UAS faculty — tenured, tenure-track, or term — at any of our three campuses are eligible for the teaching, research and creative activity, service, open educational practices, and advising awards.
Adjunct Award: The UA President's Adjunct Faculty Award is for those who have taught as an adjunct during the current academic year.
Who can Nominate?
Nominations can be made by UAS faculty, staff, students, or UA system research colleagues. [Note: You must be logged in with your UA credentials (@alaska.edu) in order to access the form.]
Awards
Faculty Excellence Award recipients will receive $1500. [Previous Award Recipients are listed on the Faculty Senate website.]
Nomination and Selection Process
- Submit a Completed Nomination Form - The application form link is available near the top of this web page.
- Attach Supporting Evidence
- Full-Time Awards: Submit three (3) pieces of supporting evidence. These may include letters from faculty, research/creative activity collaborators, students, staff, or community members explaining why the nominee deserves recognition. Letters should highlight specific accomplishments relating to teaching, research/creative activity, open education, service, or advising during the current academic year.
- UA President's Adjunct Faculty Award: Submit at least two items: 1) a letter of nomination and 2) a CV or similar summary of professional activities.
Submission Guidelines
- Incomplete nominations will not be considered.
- Submit the nomination form and all attachments before noon on Friday, April 3.
Review Process
- Faculty Senate leadership will review all nominations and forward recommendations to the Provost and Chancellor, who will make the final award determinations.
