Date of Press Release: March 26, 2026

The University of Alaska Southeast will host a launch event for the 2026 edition of its literary and arts journal, Tidal Echoes, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in the Egan Lecture Hall (Egan 112) on the Juneau campus.
This year’s featured artist, Davina Cole, will give a short presentation on Ravenstail and Chilkat weaving, and featured writer Jonas Lamb will read from his book of poetry, “What Turtle Blood Tastes Like,” followed by a question-and-answer session.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., giving attendees the opportunity to meet contributing authors, artists and editors over light refreshments. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed via the UAS YouTube channel.
Tidal Echoes presents the works of writers and artists from across Southeast Alaska. The journal features fiction, nonfiction, transcribed oral stories, memoirs, drama and poetry. Artwork of all mediums is accepted digitally, allowing the journal to include sculpture, painting, ceramics, photography and drawing in each issue.
Three UAS student editors played a key role in the publishing process—soliciting journal submissions, serving alongside community members and faculty on the editorial board to determine selections, and working with a graphic designer to compile them into a printed book.
Copies of the 2026 journal will be available for purchase at the event for $5 each. They will also be available for purchase at locations around Juneau and at the Egan Library beginning April 3.
